Job Description

Business in the Streets

Volunteer Board Members

Spring / Summer 2026

Our team operates across Toronto and Ottawa. In Toronto (Tkaronto), our work takes place on the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples. In Ottawa, our work takes place on the traditional, unceded territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation. These Indigenous Peoples have stewarded this land for generations, and we honour their enduring presence and ongoing relationship to it. As an organization focused on entrepreneurship and economic opportunity, we recognize that Indigenous communities have long practiced entrepreneurship, building systems of trade, innovation, and community care rooted in sustainability and shared prosperity. We offer this acknowledgement as part of our commitment to learning, respect, and supporting pathways to self-determination and economic empowerment for all.

Business in the Streets (BITS) is a Toronto-based charitable organization that equips young people with the knowledge, mentorship, and resources needed to pursue entrepreneurship and achieve their economic potential. BITS focuses on supporting emerging entrepreneurs—particularly those from underserved or underrepresented communities—by providing practical business training, mentorship, funding opportunities, and access to supportive networks. Through programs such as business boot camps, mentorship initiatives, and entrepreneurial training cohorts, BITS helps young people transform ideas into viable businesses while developing critical skills in leadership, financial literacy, and business planning. These programs combine hands-on training, peer mentorship, and access to funding opportunities to help participants launch or grow their ventures.

Since its founding, BITS has supported thousands of young entrepreneurs across Canada, with more than 1,000 graduates from its core programs, over 10,000 hours of mentorship delivered, and more than $750,000 in funding provided to help participants launch or expand their businesses. By strengthening entrepreneurial skills, building community, and expanding access to opportunity, BITS works to foster economic mobility, leadership development, and inclusive economic growth.
