About the Role
To lead and coordinate the integration of sustainability, net-zero carbon and climate resilience across the Combined Authority’s Asset Management function, turning strategic intent into deliverable programmes and measurable results.
The role drives the Authority’s Climate Emergency commitments by setting clear pathways and standards across the asset lifecycle, managing environmental and climate risks, and ensuring every asset, new and existing, contributes demonstrably to local, regional and national targets.
About the person
The successful candidate will be an accomplished sustainability professional with a strong track record in the built environment and the credibility to influence multi-disciplinary teams and suppliers. They will bring advanced analytical skills and familiarity with frameworks such as PAS 2080, BREEAM and MEES; hold a relevant degree and/or professional accreditation (e.g., IEMA, CEnv, engineering); and demonstrate a collaborative, outcomes-focused approach aligned to public-sector values. The postholder will gain senior visibility, tangible impact across a high-profile regional portfolio, and a supportive environment with flexible working and professional development.
