| Job Story The Mathematics Department at Wichita State University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Geometry and/or Topology beginning August 3, 2026. Applicants must have a PhD in Mathematics or a related field by the anticipated starting date, but experience beyond the doctoral dissertation is normally expected. The salary is commensurate with research and teaching experience. Priority will be given to candidates that complete their application by December 12, 2025. The primary mission of the WSU Mathematics Department is to provide education to undergraduate and graduate students in mathematics and to conduct research and scholarly activities in pure and applied areas of mathematics. The department offers PhD, MS, BS, and BA degrees in Mathematics and has a growing student body of approximately thirty graduate students and more than sixty-five undergraduate majors. The Geometry and Topology group at WSU has a strong record of research and of securing external funding and is responsible for teaching most of the upper-level undergraduate and basic graduate courses in Geometry, Topology, and Algebra. We seek to build upon the success of this group through this hire in all three aspects. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences provides a core instructional role at WSU, supporting the ideals of learning, discovery, and engagement that are the foundation of the university.
