The Challenge
We are hiring an experienced Engineering Technician to join our Division 14 Henderson county team.
In this role, you will
Perform field and office engineering for the maintenance operations overseen by Division 14, Henderson County.
Supervise and coordinate reviews of technical plans and drawings relating to driveway permit applications, utility encroachment requests, subdivision design standards, and petitions for additions.
What You Bring
Experience performing inspections, sampling, and materials testing (concrete, asphalt density) to ensure compliance with NCDOT specifications.
Computer knowledge using iPads, desktops/laptops, MicroStation, Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, and math functions.
Experience maintaining neat, legible, and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry.
Experience conducting independent, moderately complex inspections with limited supervision.
General knowledge of surveying and methods, equipment, and materials used in highway construction.
General knowledge of math functions, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
Ability to take good notes.
Good communication skills.
Safety toe shoes.
Education & Experience
Associates Degree in Civil Engineering, Survey Technology, or a related discipline, and
2+ years of engineering technician experience, or
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Note
You will be required to work nights and weekends when needed for emergency and planned operations in all types of weather and on uneven surfaces and slopes.
