Full-Time Coordinator, Animals in Film and Television
Job Description
To provide a wide range of high-level support and coordinate a variety of cross-departmental projects for PETA’s Animals in Film and Television division of the Communications department
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
• Identify the use or depiction of animals in projects in all stages of film and TV development
• Track industry trades, databases, film festivals, and news publications for relevant updates
• Track upcoming projects of key directors, producers, writers, and actors as well as for networks, studios, and streaming services
• Stay up to date on entertainment news and the latest trailers and music video releases
• Streamline documentary inquiries and initiatives and handle correspondences with documentarians interested in working with PETA
• Screen films and TV shows as required to support the campaign objectives
• Work with the supervisor and AFTV division to implement concepts and coordinate various campaigns and projects related to the use or depiction of animals in film and television; liaise with other departments as appropriate
• Attend industry meetings, screenings, conferences, and other special events on behalf of the division
• Contact entertainment industry professionals to dissuade them from using animals, to thank them for sending positive animal messages or using alternatives, and to present PETA’s position on the issues
• Draft correspondences, letters, soundbites, and other content and materials to further AFTV’s mission
• Research and track animal trainers and suppliers to develop thorough knowledge of the various players; stay up to date on the various projects they may be working on
• Handle administrative responsibilities as needed, including recording meeting notes, and maintaining correspondences, research, and files in the database
• Perform research as needed to support AFTV’s work
• Coordinate gifts and other mailings to industry contacts
• Assist the supervisor with PETA’s Distinctive Assets promotions during awards season, which depending on your location, may include receiving and sending packages, assembling materials, and driving to hand deliver gifts
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
• Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum of one year of project-coordinating experience
• Interest in and extensive knowledge of the film and TV industries
• Extensive knowledge of animal rights issues and PETA campaigns
• Ability to work and carry out projects independently while executing sound judgment and confidentiality
• Ability to anticipate the needs of the division, and to think and act five steps ahead
• Demonstrated thorough knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Demonstrated effective online research skills
• Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
• Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• Proven ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional manner, with confidentiality at all times
• Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver’s license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record
• Must own or have access to a reliable car, as driving may be required for the position, sometimes on a moment’s notice
