Full-Time Engineering Technician Apprentice
Job Description
- Perform technical engineering work supporting senior engineering technicians and engineers in construction inspection, surveying, materials sampling, testing, erosion control, and construction traffic control.
- Perform a variety of standardized and non-standardized tests and assignments compiling, analyzing, computing, editing, and processing field data.
- Perform engineering calculations and computations.
- Work inside and outside.

- Interest in transportation construction and engineering, such as transportation and environmental planning, design, construction, engineering, and maintenance.
- Basic computer skills using laptops, iPads, and software.
- Communications skills to effectively use verbal and nonverbal skills to express routine or simple technical and program concepts and facts in a clear, concise, organized, and persuasive manner.
- Ability to communicate with staff to ensure tasks are completed correctly and on time.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to safely perform manual tasks using a bush axe and other tools on steep and rough terrains.
- Strength and agility to carry testing equipment over rough and steep terrain.
- Strength to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
- Ability to safely work high above the ground, be proficient in record keeping, and use engineering testing equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in areas with high traffic, work at heights over water or traffic, and agility to climb on bridge substructures and superstructures.
- Safety toe shoes.
- High School/GED Diploma, and
- Currently studying for an Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey/Geomatics Technology, or a related field.
