The Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region supports survivors of sexual violence. We listen, facilitate healing, and celebrate resiliency. Using an anti-racist, intersectional feminist approach, we work to transform systems which promote gender-based violence.
We are currently recruiting for a Digital Resources Coordinator in our Public Education Program. This role is a full-time, one year contract role beginning Monday, January 6, 2025. Reporting to our Public Education Manager, candidates should feel inspired by our work and have a genuine desire to support our mission, vision, and values.
Job Description – Digital Resources Coordinator
Job Purpose:
Reporting to our Public Education Manager, our Digital Resources Coordinator will play a pivotal role in enhancing our capacity to prevent sexual violence among youth by designing and developing a new SASC website, featuring an online learning platform for our Public Education Program.
This platform will provide interactive workshops, educational resources, and support materials for youth and educators. This position will ensure that all educational materials comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). It also involves developing promotional materials for our fee-for-service educational programs.
This is a full-time, one-year contract position working in partnership with SASC’s Communications Coordinator and Public Education Team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Website and Online Learning Platform Development
- Conduct a comprehensive needs assessment and planning for the new website that incorporates a new online platform.
- Lead the development of an engaging and user-friendly website that hosts interactive workshops and educational resources, working in partnership with our Communications
- Select and customize an appropriate learning management system (LMS) or platform to house the resources.
- Select and implement e-commerce integration to handle course purchases and
- Oversee technical setup, testing, and troubleshooting of the platform.
- Provide user training and support to ensure ease of access and usability.
- Work with our Communications Coordinator to develop and implement marketing and promotion strategies for the platform’s launch.
- Monitor platform performance, gather user feedback, and perform evaluations for continuous improvement.
AODA Compliance
- Conduct audits of existing educational materials to ensure compliance with AODA standards.
- Develop accessible content templates for future educational materials.
- Revise, update and re-design current materials to meet AODA guidelines.
- Collaborate with users with disabilities to collect and integrate feedback into resources.
- Provide training and guidance to content creators on maintaining AODA compliance.
- Establish and oversee ongoing processes for accessibility reviews.
Digital Promotions and Marketing
- Design branding and visual identity for promotional materials related to fee-for-service
- Create and develop content for digital advertisements, social media posts, curriculum content packages, and other marketing materials.
- Plan and execute a promotional campaign for the programs.
- Monitor the effectiveness of promotional campaigns and gather feedback from participants.
- Adjust promotional materials based on feedback and data analysis.
- Plan and implement follow-up marketing strategies to drive engagement.
General Responsibilities
- Collaborate with and support the work of colleagues in the Public Education Program.
- Develop and maintain education resources.
- Make appropriate internal and external referrals beyond the scope of the Public Education
Additionally, in a small agency, it is often the case that work of a nature like that in each job is either assigned or known to be necessary to be done. Also, from time to time, work that is not similar in nature to the job may also be required to be done by individuals in any job to accomplish the SASC’s purpose.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in digital media, web development, communications, or a related field and 2 – 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent.
Identified required skills/experience:
- Proven experience in website development, learning management system (LMS) customization, and digital media design
- Proficiency in programming languages, Adobe Creative Cloud, WordPress, LearnDash, or equivalent
- Understanding of and demonstrated experience using a feminist anti-oppression framework
- Exceptional organizational skills, ability to multi-task in a high-volume workload with a keen attention-to-detail
- Strong time management skills, including work planning, goal setting, and prioritization
- Strong understanding of AODA standards and experience in developing accessible digital content
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work on a highly collaborative team
- Knowledge of or experience in the nonprofit or education sectors, especially in youth or public education an asset
Communications
Strong communications and interpersonal/human relations skills are required in the position to articulate concepts, engage community members and entrepreneurs, and effect change in our community. There are frequent external contacts including working closely with community partners.
Working Conditions
This job is performed in a hybrid work environment; a portion of the work can be done virtually, and a portion of the work will be in the office. Given that the majority of the work is computer-focused, the role can be sedentary although there is the ability to stand and stretch and move about the workspace, whether it be at home or in the office.
Direct reports
Although there are no direct reports for this role, the Digital Resource Coordinator may supervise the work of students supporting this project.
Compensation and Benefits: |
We are a Living Wage employer as defined by the Ontario Living Wage Network. We use a 3:1 ratio meaning that the highest paid team member is not paid more than 3 times the lowest paid team member.
The wage per hour for this role is $33.71 per hour based on a 35-hour work week.
We have a health benefit plan including Extended Health Care (EHC), Dental, Employee Life Insurance, Dependent’s Life Insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D), Long-Term Disability (LTD), and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). We pay 100% of health benefit premiums for our full-time staff and their families.
Due to the nature of our work, our staff team start with four weeks of vacation. We also have 125 hours of paid time off per year. These amounts are pro-rated based on the team member’s start date.
