Job Description
Elmira College, the first college to offer a comprehensive curriculum for women, and home of the Center for Mark Twain Studies, is a small, well-established, residential, liberal arts college in a pleasant community in the Finger Lakes region of New York State (county population 100,000).
Elmira College invites applications for a full-time position in the Social Work program beginning in the fall of 2025. The Social Work program is a new program launching in 2025. This position will require a dual role as a course instructor and overseeing social work student field placement as the field director. The position may include related work in the first two years, such as student counseling and support. Course instruction will encompass social work courses such as introduction to social work, introduction to social justice, social work practice courses, social policy, field seminar courses and other courses within the candidate’s area of specialization. Additional expectations include student academic advising, supervision of student research projects, service to the College, and continued professional development. We are open to rank and tenure eligibility.
Work Location: On Site (not remote)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MANDATORY Master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited program or CASWE-accredited degree (from the Canadian social work accreditor, recognized through an MOU with CSWE and CASWE), or an internationally earned ISWDRES evaluated degree
- Minimum two years of post-master’s social work degree practice experience in social work.
- Applicants must demonstrate an aptitude for teaching undergraduates.
Annual Salary: $54,000 – $56,000
