Full-Time Bridge Engineering Technician III
Job Description
- Supervise junior Engineering Technicians by reviewing daily inspection reports, scheduling project staff, and project field reviews.
- Perform independent inspections of bridge maintenance contract replacement and field maintenance projects to assure compliance with contract provisions and standard specifications for roads and structures.
- Create and assemble contract documents.
- Serve as a rodperson/instrument person.
- Inspect structure and roadway operations including pile driving, steel/concrete placement, sub grade preparation, asphalt paving and traffic activity.
- Perform routine math computations calculating work by contractors and others.
- Track and report contract progress,.
- Process contractor and material invoices.
- Enter data in HiCams, including samples, pay records, material received reports, tickets, etc.
- Perform other bridge maintenance duties and responsibilities.
- Knowledge and understanding of NCDOT concepts, practices, and theories used in highway construction and knowledge of math functions.
- Experience working on complex inspections for roadway, structure, and resurfacing project to ensure compliance with contract documents, plans, and NCDOT standards and specifications.
- Experience maintaining detailed records, reports, performing analysis of findings, and recommending correction actions.
- Basic computer skills.
- Management experience in the supervision, management, and training of employees.
- Safety toe shoes.
- Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related field, and
- 3+ years of relevant technician experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
