Full-Time Senior People Operations Consultant

Role Overview

The Senior People Operations Consultant will report to DevelopWell’s Managing Partner and Principal Consultant, Akailah Jenkins McIntyre. This role requires an experienced consultant and project manager with expertise in HR, organizational development, DEIJ, and facilitation. You will serve as a lead consultant, working closely with our clients to advise on and implement people operations strategies, systems, and structures that are values-driven and results-oriented.

As a Senior Consultant, you’ll manage multiple client engagements simultaneously, working with organizational leaders to meet their people needs, while also contributing to business development by retaining and growing client accounts.

Primary Responsibilities

Client Engagement and Project Management (85%)

Client Service:

  • Lead client engagements, manage relationships, and ensure all projects meet the goals of the client.
  • Respond to client needs with professionalism while balancing scope of work, budget, and team capacity.
  • Advise on and execute HR and people operations strategies, including performance management, DEIJ, leadership coaching, and benefits & compensation planning.

Consulting & Subject Matter Expertise:

  • Act as project lead for people operations and organizational development projects, including equitable hiring practices, organizational planning, leadership development, and change management.
  • Stay informed on best practices and innovations in HR, people operations, and DEIJ to ensure DevelopWell’s services remain cutting-edge.
  • Lead training sessions, strategic planning meetings, and coaching for leaders and teams.

Project Management:

  • Coordinate with internal teams and clients to ensure timely project execution, using project management tools such as Monday.com to track progress.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve internal systems, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and impact.
  • Manage client deliverables, from developing frameworks and policies to facilitating leadership sessions and team culture initiatives.

Business Development:

  • Identify opportunities for contract renewals and extensions, supporting the growth of existing client relationships.
  • Participate in business development efforts by contributing to sales meetings, communications, and proposal development.

Internal Operations and Team Collaboration (15%)

Team Training & Feedback:

  • Support the onboarding and training of Consulting Coordinators and Consulting Managers.
  • Offer constructive feedback to colleagues, helping them navigate client relationships and improve their work.
  • Contribute to DevelopWell’s internal culture of learning by leading and/or participating in team development sessions.

Process Improvement:

  • Use client data and feedback to inform improvements in services and solutions, ensuring we continue to deliver high-quality, equitable work.
  • Collaborate with the team to innovate new approaches and improve consulting templates, tools, and resources.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in senior-level HR consulting or organizational development, managing complex projects and diverse client portfolios.
  • Proven expertise in DEIJ facilitation, with a strong track record of driving diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice initiatives in organizational settings.
  • Expert-level knowledge and proven experience leading large-scale projects and initiatives in HR strategy, organizational development, and people operations, including performance management, scaling organizations, inclusive hiring, strategic planning, and leadership development.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex client engagements simultaneously, delivering high-quality results on time and within scope.
  • Extensive experience in change management, organizational scaling, and navigating complex workplace challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Advanced project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to utilize platforms such as Monday.com, Asana, or other project management tools to ensure seamless client and internal operations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, guide, and coach senior leaders and teams, while fostering a commitment to inclusivity, equity, and justice.
  • Ability to work autonomously in fast-paced, dynamic environments and contribute to a collaborative team culture, with a focus on continuous improvement.

Bonus Skills

  • Certifications in relevant areas such as SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or Certified Diversity Executive (CDE), reflecting deep subject matter expertise in HR, DEIJ, and organizational development.
  • Specialized expertise in specific areas such as performance management, team and culture dynamics, or leadership coaching at the senior leadership level.
  • Proven track record of facilitating leadership development sessions and conducting organizational assessments with demonstrable impact.
  • Deep experience in DEIJ strategy implementation across various organizations, particularly within complex or large-scale environments.
  • Familiarity and experience working with mission-driven organizations, nonprofits, or social justice-oriented organizations.
  • Knowledge of or experience with labor rights, racial equity, and social movements is a plus, further grounding the work in equity and justice values.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $95,000 – $120,000, based on experience.
  • Health benefits: 100% paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees; 80% coverage for dependents.
  • Retirement benefits: 401k plan with a 4% match after six months of employment.
  • Paid time off: Unlimited PTO, including U.S. holidays and two weeks off in December.
  • Other perks: Monthly stipend for cell phone/internet services, and the ability to work fully remote in a flexible work environment.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $95,000 – $120,000, based on experience.
  • Health benefits: 100% paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees; 80% coverage for dependents.
  • Retirement benefits: 401k plan with a 4% match after three months of employment.
  • Paid time off: Unlimited PTO, including U.S. holidays and two weeks off in December.
  • Other perks: Monthly stipend for cell phone/internet services, and the ability to work fully remote in a flexible work environment.
