NEW HIGHER PAY: $34,936 – $61,137
The Challenge
We’re looking for an entry-level Engineering Technician to join our Maintenance Operations Support team (MOST).
 
In this role, you will:
    • Assist in construction inspection activities (utility, driveway construction, road construction, etc.) within the right of way of Division 2 state-maintained roads.
    • Communicate with Division 2 maintenance and construction teams with updates for ongoing and planned work.
    • Assist with field surveys for drainage and location work.
    • Field general complaint issues and coordinate with other units to achieve optimal results.
    • Inspect guardrails and coordinate repairs for damaged guardrails.
    • Generate estimates for roadway improvements.
    • Assist senior Technicians and Engineers.
    • Safely drive a pickup truck, carryall, or motor vehicle.
    • Inspect all areas of construction, including asphalt lay downs; stone base construction; chemical stabilization; construction of fill sections; undercut; seeding/mulching; major concrete structures; curb and gutters; milling; driving piles; construction of drilled shafts; signal/sign installation; drainage; utility construction; erosion control; pavement markings; work zone traffic control; and concrete pavements.
What You Bring
    • Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
    • Experience maintaining standard daily records and reports.
    • Knowledge of standards and specifications and plan reading experience.
    • Computer skills using laptop, iPads, and software.
    • Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying.
    • Good verbal and written communications skills to maintain effective working relations with other employees and the public, and to establish positive lines of communication between technicians, engineers, and contractors.
    • You apply a safety philosophy and program to all operations.
    • Safety toe shoes.
    • Driver’s license.
Education & Experience
    • Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
