Job Description
- Install pipes, and erosion control devices.
- Perform trenching, and shoring operations.
- Conduct structure inspections.
- Weld, pile drive, drive spikes, and perform steel fabrication and steel beam repairs.
- Install traffic controls.
- Perform flagging.
- Operate heavy equipment in work zones.
- Perform carpentry, concrete work, machine operation, contract inspection, sandblasting/painting, demolition work, and lead paint removal.
- Operate hand and power tools.
- Clear right of ways.
- Repair pavement.
- Experience in pipe installation and installation of erosion control devices.
- Experience in the layout of traffic control in work zones.
- Experience shoulder and ditch maintenance, pipe installation, asphalt patching, or snow/ice removal.
- Experience in 2+ pieces of Bridge Category B equipment: asphalt distributor, asphalt mixer, asphalt patcher, crack sealing machine, ditching machine, force feed loader, front end loader, lube truck, asphalt maintainer, post driver, skid steer, street sweeper, tandem dump truck, tractor “A” boom mower, or truck w/ aerial device.
- Experience constructing formwork using skilled carpentry techniques.
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement. (Note: If you don’t have this, STILL APPLY! You can get it through our on-the-job training within 360 days of hire).
- Safety toe shoes.
- Comfortable working while suspended at moderate heights, confined areas, over water, in water, in extreme heat and cold, and during bad weather.
- Ability to always work safely and follow instructions to complete assigned tasks.
- Ability to use tools associated with related bridge maintenance and/or construction activities
- Strength to exert 100+ pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and in excess of 10 pounds constantly to move objects
- This work is very physical and labor intense.
- This position is subject to Emergency Call Back and scheduled night work during adverse weather or other extreme circumstances, which includes responding to emergencies such as snow and ice removal, downed trees, etc.
- We may require work during non-traditional work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Work is performed in roadways or on shoulders adjacent to the traveling public in heavy traffic at interstate speeds, near heavy equipment.
- A pre-employment drug test is required, and we will conduct a background investigation over the past 3 years with your previous employers for controlled substance and alcohol testing.
- High school/GED diploma, and
- 3+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
