NEW HIGHER PAY: $34,936 – $61,137
The Challenge
We’re looking for an entry-level Engineering Technician to join our Winston-Salem Construction team.
In this role, you will:
- Assist engineers and senior engineering technicians in the implementation and administration of roadway and structure construction projects awarded to private contractors.
- Assist on minor to complex projects.
- Conduct inspections of every phase of a construction project to ensure it is done according to plans and specifications in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Perform calculations, computations, and computer/iPad data entry.
What You Bring
- Ability to conduct routine inspections for compliance with contract agreements, standard/codes, permit, and specifications.
- Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
- Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
- Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
- Customer service experience related to solving problems involving explaining complicated engineering concepts to customer groups.
- Computer experience including Microsoft Office and drafting software.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive communication between other technicians, engineers, contractors, and the public.
- Communication skills to communicate in a clear, concise, organized, and persuasive manner.
- Ability to work safely in an outside environment with exposure to hazards on construction sites including heights, highway traffic, and traversing rough terrain in evaluating highway construction.
- Fitness to perform role with walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing.
- Strength to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as required, to any assigned project.
- You apply a safety philosophy and program to all operations.
- Safety toe shoes.
- You can safely operate a motor vehicle.
- Math skills to perform calculations, computations, and computer/iPad data entry.
Education & Experience
- Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
