Full-Time CADD Engineer III
Job Description
- Develop and enhance NCDOT’s digital delivery by coordinating with other NCDOT disciplines.
- Organize CADD support through using multidisciplinary teams in vetting software, workspace, and unit-specific workflows, leading meetings, and creating/updating documentation on the progress.
- Identify and develop training materials and avenues to provide guidance and best practices for NCDOT Technical Services units, Divisions and Professional Engineering Firms (PEFs) tailored for their workflows.
- Provide direct training to junior engineers, Transportation Engineering Associates, and interns.
- Assist NCDOT staff in multiple units with CADD-related project workflow on ProjectWise and SharePoint.
- Track progress of tasks, compile, and generate status reports.
- Create software-related guidance by communicating with the team and general users.
- Collaborate with NCDOT units, PEF staff, and software vendors in identifying and solving software, workspace, and workflow issues.
- Identify and create CADD tools such as cells, line styles, and templates for unit workspaces.
- Identify needs for developing, executing, and evaluating design and modeling test scenarios for the Technical Services units, Divisions, PEFs and the Digital Delivery Team.
- Create CADD training materials, including manuals, data sets, presentations & videos, and present at user-group conferences, webinars, and group meetings.
- Experience using NCDOT & AASHTO design principles, NCDOT project delivery workflow, NCDOT Standard Specifications, and Standard Drawings.
- Computer expertise in Bentley highway design software and workspaces, preferably with MicroStation, GeoPak, OpenX suite (OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge Designer etc.), SS2 Corridor Modeling, and/or AutoCAD.
- Experience working cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, solve problems, and make decisions enhancing organizational effectiveness.
- Experience providing timely customer service, ensuring effective interactions with other departments, employees, and customers, and ability to work cooperatively across disparate and geographically dispersed teams.
- Experience creating or developing informational products and managing programs/project plans to develop and implement short-term strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, and
- 4+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- We may require you to be registered as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
