The Challenge
We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Technician III to serve as our Regional Laboratory Lead Technician.
 
In this role, you will
    • Perform materials tests used in the construction of NC roads and bridges.
    • Perform all tests relating to soils, coarse and fine aggregates, aggregate base course, concrete, and other items for compliance with the NCDOT specifications.
    • Oversee junior lab technicians and communicate with contractors and NCDOT staff to ensure compliance with NCDOT specifications.
    • Enter test data into HiCAMS to generate test reports and maintain our in-house Microsoft Excel database.
    • Assist with arranging daily work schedules for junior laboratory technicians at testing stations.
    • Maintain laboratory equipment inventory list.
    • Ensure all equipment is in good working condition, including coordinating routine maintenance, repair, and replacement.
    • Perform and upkeep the required routine testing equipment calibrations.
What You Bring
    • Knowledge of techniques, practices, and testing procedures related to concrete, cementitious materials, aggregate, and soil materials.
    • Knowledge of quality management systems and the requirements of technicians and equipment.
    • Experience communicating with technicians, individual work units, or external customers on technical issues.
    • Computer experience using Microsoft Office and HiCAMS.
    • Report and technical documentation development experience.
 
Education & Experience
    • Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or assigned discipline, and
    • 3+ years of technician experience; or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
