NEW HIGHER PAY: $34,936 – $61,137
The Challenge
We are hiring an Entry-Level Engineering Technician to join our award-winning Winston-Salem Construction team.
In this role, you will:
    • Assist engineers and senior technicians in the implementation and administration of roadway and structure construction projects awarded to private contractors.
    • Assist on projects from minor to complex.
    • Provide inspection of every phase of a construction project to ensure it is built according to plans and specifications in a timely and cost-effective manner.
    • Conduct routine inspections for compliance with contract agreements, standard/codes, permit, and specifications.
    • Perform calculations, computations, and computer/iPad data entry.
What You Bring
    • Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
    • Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
    • Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
    • Customer service experience solving problems involving explaining complicated engineering concepts to customer groups.
    • Computer skills using Microsoft Office and drafting software.
    • Good communications skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive communications between other technicians, engineers, contractors, and the public, and the ability to effectively communicate in a clear, concise, organized, and persuasive manner.
    • Ability to work safely in an outside environment with exposure to hazards on construction sites including heights, highway traffic, and traversing rough terrain in evaluating highway construction.
    • Ability to perform moderate physical activity including but not limited to walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing.
    • Strength to lift 50 pounds.
    • Able to work nights and weekends as required.
    • You apply a safety philosophy and program to all operations.
    •  Safety toe shoes.
    • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Education & Experience
    • Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.

If we find no fully qualified candidates, we may consider trainees who do not meet minimum requirements. Trainee starting pay may be lower than the listed salary range, with raises given when you have obtained the necessary additional education/experience to fully meet the minimum qualifications.
