Full-Time Right of Way Agent II – Real Estate Professional
Job Description
- Acquire Rights of Way and manage projects assigned to consulting firms for construction and maintenance of the State Transportation Network.
- Provide Right of Way information/documentation within NCDOT, to the public, and other government agencies.
- Carry out Right of Way acquisition functions of highway projects.
- Negotiate Right of Way acquisitions and provide relocation services on project claims.
- Review, approve, and submit settlement and condemnation final reports.
- Ensure claim closings are completed in accordance with office procedures.
- Monitor and track schedules and workloads in the Right of Way office to ensure timely right of way acquisition completion and project letting.
- Promote public relations and coordinate right of way activities with NCDOT units, government and non-government entities.
- Assist in the management of negotiations and acquisitions of right of way for the construction and maintenance of the state transportation network through numerous private consulting firms on contract with NCDOT.
- Assist, manage, and coordinate highway right of way acquisitions and relocations on primary, secondary, urban, and other projects.
- Explain right of way concepts and procedures by written and verbal communication.
- Monitor and track schedules and workloads within the Division to ensure timely right of way acquisition completion and project letting.
- Assist in coordinating right of way acquisition activities with government agencies, other NCDOT units, and property owners.
- Experience composing written communication effectively for different audiences.
- Project management experience managing multiple priorities within specified time constraints.
- Experience performing work-related task/duties independently or with limited supervision.
- Experience preparing and researching legal instruments & public records.
- Knowledge of plan reading.
- Bachelors degree in Business, Economics, Real Estate or related field (i.e., Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture), and
- 2+ years of experience in general real estate; or
- High School/GED degree, and
- 7+ years of experience in general real estate; or
- An equivalent combination or education and experience.
