Job Description
- Experience in Advanced Work Zone Safety and NCDOT Workplace Safety Policy and Practices.
- Demonstrated ability supervising and training others in equipment operations.
- Working experience as the Lead Worker on a Bridge Crew without supervision.
- Experience reading and interpreting plans, calculating quantities, and placing orders, plan reading and layout, directing drilling and cutting of holes, and directing erection of steel beams and bridge components.
- Experience serving as a lead in trenching and shoring operations.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
- A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement. (Note: If you don’t have one, STILL APPLY! You can get it through our on-the-job training program within 360 days of hire).
- Strength to safely exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 50 pounds of force frequently.
- Ability to safely work in a close environment or independently.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions as directed by your supervisor.
- Ability to perform work safely while suspended at moderate heights, confined areas, over water, in water, in extreme heat and cold, and in inclement weather.
- Safety toe shoes.
- This position is technical in nature and labor intensive.
- You will be working in diverse working environments, all types of weather, in and around heavy equipment, and using power tools.
- When bad weather happens, you will be called on to work nights and/or weekends to help in snow and ice removal.
- A pre-employment drug testing is required, and we will do a background check of your employers for the past 2 years for controlled substances/alcohol testing.
- High school/GED diploma, and
- 6+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
