Full-Time Program Assistant at Shoreline Veterans Center
Job Description
ABOUT THE POSITION: The Program Assistant observes, records, and responds as needed to the comings and goings of guests, staff and residents, maintains a safe and comfortable environment for residents, and responds to tenant issues as appropriate. Maintains security by following procedures and interacting with and monitoring activity in the lobby area. They serve as a member of the program services team, they support and work with them to serve the community by providing trauma-informed assistance. This is a unionized position, represented by Local 8 of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU).
ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Our Shoreline Veterans Program provides permanent housing and case management for 21 men and 4 women who are veterans. The center’s technology lab offers computer classes and helps residents apply for benefits, look for a job and access resources online. Access is through the VA’s Homeless Outreach Clinic.

LOCATION: Shoreline, WA
REPORTS TO: Program Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Sunday-Thursday 4pm-12am with monthly staff meeting on last Wednesday 4-6pm
SALARY RANGE: $15.00 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree is strongly desired, Bachelor’s degree preferred in social services or social work or related field.
A minimum of 1-year experience in building security and/or customer service, desired.
A minimum of 1-year of experience in human services (work and/or volunteer), desired.
Familiarity with issues of homelessness, mental illness, chemical dependency, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence, desired.
Experience working with veterans, desired.
Experience working with clients with English as a second language or where there is limited English speaking ability.
Or relevant work experience, certificate and/or equivalent continuing professional development or education.
