Full-Time Financial Assistance Program Monitor

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Financial Assistance Program Manager, the Financial Assistance Monitor will assist in reviewing financial assistance applications for clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews financial assistance applications to ensure compliance with HOPWA, HUD, LAHD and/or DHSP guidelines/regulations and contracts.
  • Ensure financial assistance is being provided as part of an overall plan to help clients obtain/maintain safe, decent, and affordable housing that is appropriate for their needs.
  • Work with Referral Agencies to complete financial assistance applications on behalf of the client.
  • Work with Referral Agencies to gather supporting documentation.
  • Responds to routine phone and email inquiries concerning applications and scenarios.
  • Refers files with questionable and fraudulent information and/or supporting documentation to the Financial Assistance Program Manager.
  • Inputs application information into the Salesforce database.
  • Cross-references Bitfocus (CLARITY) and Salesforce database to verify duplication of services.
  • Informs Referral Agencies of application status.
  • Assist with the follow-up and tracking of the disbursement of financial assistance funds (checks).
  • Participates in Community Meetings.
  • Assist with maintaining archived files.
  • Participates in all trainings for financial assistance program guidelines, eligibility criteria and application submission.
  • Coordinates and conducts Salesforce portal trainings and provides database technical assistance as requested.
  • Creates and provides routine reporting to DHSP, Program Manager, or Executive Director as requested.
  • Provides input/feedback to improve financial assistance programs.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by Financial Assistance Program Manager.

OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED TO MEET BUSINESS NEEDS.

REQUIREMENTS:

Training and Experience:

Bachelors degree in Social Work or related field AND 1 year experience OR 5 years’ experience in related profession.

Experience working with persons with HIV/AIDS, chronically ill, mentally ill, homeless, and/or individuals with substance use disorders. Strong ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent critical thinking skills, detail oriented. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Previous work experience with basic office skills, data input, filing, etc.

Knowledge of:

Knowledge of the services provided throughout the housing continuum.

Ability to:

Ability to work within complex data management systems. Able to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to adapt to a changing environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This is primarily an office position that requires only occasional bending, reaching, stooping, lifting and moving of office materials weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires daily use of a personal computer and requires entering, viewing, and revising text and graphics on the computer terminal and on paper.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid California driver’s license; proof of auto liability insurance; and have the use of a personal vehicle for work related purposes.
