Friends of Ruby is dedicated to the journey and well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, aged 16-29 through mental health services, social services, and housing. Friends of Ruby offers Youth Mental Health services, a Youth Drop-In Centre, and a Transitional Home. The Centre provides access to barrier-free counselling and therapeutic groups, case management and a drop-in space with hot meals, community, and comprehensive programming. The Home provides transitional and emergency housing, as well as mental health and life-skills to support youth moving towards independent living.

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Mental Health & Youth Services, the Clinical Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of clinical services. Additional responsibilities include ensuring high quality program delivery in our, therapeutic groups, our one-on-one counselling, and our drop-in services/programs planning, supervision of clinical staff, along with performance improvement and quality management.
This role will provide day-to-day supervision, mentorship, and performance enhancement to Clinical Counsellors and our Drop-In staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, customer service excellence, and continuous learning, and program planning. The manager will encourage innovation, evaluating performance and leading staff development through motivation and training, creating a safe and supportive environment for all participants and staff.

- Understand substance use, mental health and harm reduction gained through direct experience working with marginalized individuals, providing support through an anti- oppressive, anti-racist, strengths-based, client-centered and trauma informed lens, preferably to 2SLGBTQIA+ youth
- Work effectively with staff, participants, partner agencies, and funders to address service inquiries, requests and/or complaints, apply verbal de- escalation and crisis prevention techniques in defusing potentially volatile situations, and compile, analyze and disseminate data and apply it to programming practices and Youth Services operations
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Provide clinical and administrative oversight and guidance to a team of Clinicians
- Leads the case review process for the organization
- Hiring, supervision and performance management of staff assigned, ensuring continuous learning and professional development
- Assist team with workload management by reviewing waitlist and responding to phone inquiries of participants and families; assigning and transferring cases between staff and programs
- Oversee team schedules and time off to ensure programs and services are staffed adequately
- Supervise placement students as assigned
- Work with staff to ensure individual and team targets have been met in accordance with funding requirements
- Seek opportunities to be involved in and contribute with partner agencies and the community sector, establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with other community-based organizations
- Ensure initiatives and programs are design in partnership with other organizations, build upon the intersectionality of Friends of Ruby’s work to support the needs of the 2SLGBTQIA+ youth
- Support the Director in the strategic planning of the department
- Oversee the delivery of activities and provide monthly reports with outcomes and recommendations
- Support the development, adaptation and implementation of innovative programming that is grounded in evidence-based clinical practices
- Develop effective strategies to engage participants, and community partners
- Contribute to the use of quality, health, participant satisfaction, and outcome measures for all relevant clinical programs, ensuring a model of continuous quality improvement is maintained
- Prepare and present Clinical Services reports to leadership, the community sector and key donors as required
- May be required to run and facilitate clinical programming
- Coordinate and work collaboratively with the Housing Manager and the Manager, Case Management for programming between the Drop In, the Clinical Services and the House and to better support participants across the Organization’s services
- Ensure the accurate documenting of statistical data related to clinical programming and all data meets confidentiality requirements
- Work with Occupational Health & Safety Committee to ensure the facility and programming meets all legislative requirements
- Work to create an inclusive workplace culture, including the prevention of harassment and/or discrimination
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology, or related discipline.
- Registered and in good standing with a college that allows for the provision of psychotherapy.
- Minimum of 3-5 years clinical experience working in a Mental Health and Addictions
- Minimum 2-3 years previous supervisory and management experience required, including demonstrated effectiveness with designing, planning, leading, and change management in community mental health
- Experience using an electronic client record system
- Lived experience as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community
- Experience volunteering or working in the community-based organizations
- Interest in, and experience with, quality improvement and program monitoring tools
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Thorough understanding and commitment to Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression theory and practice, as utilized through a program delivery and clinical lens
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement evidence-based programming
- Experience using multiple modalities of counselling: Examples including single-session, DBT, EMDR, solution focused, EFT and therapeutic groups etc.
