NEW HIGHER SALARY: $34,936 – $61,137
 
The Challenge
We are looking for an entry-level Engineering Technician to be a District Technician on our Nash County District 2 team.
In this role, you will:
    • Serve as a project inspector conducting independent inspections of driveway permits and encroachments.
    • Review safety and environmental items and perform routine to moderately-complex inspections of roadway and utility construction processes and materials to assure compliance with contract agreements, standards, and specifications.
    • Evaluate and apply your engineering judgment to plan interpretations.
    • Establish and maintain positive communications between technicians, engineers, contractors, and the public.    
    • Traverse rough terrain when evaluating highway construction.
    • Apply a safety philosophy and program to all operations.
    • Accurately maintain daily work records.
    • Operate a state vehicle.
 
What You Bring
    • Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
    • Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
    • Knowledge of standards and specifications and plan reading experience.
    • Computer skills using a laptop, iPad, Microsoft Office, and software.
    • Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying.
    • Ability to work in close proximity to high volumes of traffic and heavy construction equipment.
    • Safety toe shoes.
 
Education & Experience
    • Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field; or
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
