The Challenge
We are looking for 2 experienced Engineering Technicians to join Aberdeen Resident Engineering Office team.
 
In this role, you will:
    • Serve as our project inspector on roadway and structure projects for the Aberdeen Resident Engineer’s Office.
    • Conduct independent moderate to complex inspections.
    • Perform sampling, materials testing, and analyze engineering-related data.
    • Supervise junior Technicians and contractors.
    • Perform highway construction surveying and layout.
 
What You Bring
    • Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.
    • Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
    • Customer service experience solving problems involving explaining complicated engineering concepts to customer groups.
    • Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems and working in a team environment to complete assignments.
    • Ability to complete daily dairies, sample cards, asphalt report, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System(NPDES) reports, material received forms, survey notes, and monthly estimates.
    • Working knowledge of construction related math calculations, electronic equipment, and computers.
    • Knowledge and understanding of NCDOT concepts, practices, and theories.
    • Strength and agility to lift and carry at least 50 pounds and traverse rough terrain.
    • Safety Toe Shoes.
  
Notes
    • You will be exposed to high traffic volumes, work at heights over water/traffic, and extreme temperatures.
    • Your work may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
 
Education and Experience
    • Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related field, and
    • 3+ years of relevant technician experience; or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
