The Challenge
Ready to launch your career in transportation engineering and help lead the Smart Transportation revolution? We are looking for an entry-level transportation engineer to join our Division 1 Maintenance team.
In this role, you will
    • Plan, develop, and coordinate implementation of our comprehensive annual Division 1 5-year pavement management program with a strategy to maximize available resources to improve overall pavement conditions.
    • Assist in the management of program budgets.
    • Coordinate with our Division Maintenance Engineer, County Maintenance Engineers, Bridge Maintenance Engineer, and other unit supervisors to develop, prioritize, and select maintenance, preservation, and rehabilitation projects.
    • Provide written and verbal correspondence to internal/external customers to relay information about policy, procedures, and standards.
    • Use your computer skills to develop and compile contract documents.
    • Work with maintenance teams during hurricanes, snow & ice, and other emergency situations to support their operations.
 
What You Bring
    • Experience applying engineering concepts to solve basic engineering problems.
    • Knowledge of engineering standards, policies, and procedures related to transportation.
    • Customer service experience solving problems involving explaining complicated engineering concepts to customer groups.
    • Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
    • Computer skills using business software (Microsoft Office).
Education & Experience
    • Bachelors degree in engineering; or
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
 
Note
    • We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
