Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) Manhattan is a partnership between Bard College and the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE). Job Description

The Smart Scholars program at Bard High School Early College Manhattan invites applications for its Summer Scholars program.  Faculty will be needed daily from July 5th through July 28th, not including weekends. There are positions open to teach Physics, Literature, Algebra, and/or Computer Science. Faculty also participate in community building activities amongst the Scholars, attend field trips and work closely with the Program Director, Program Associate, Student Mentors & Interns.

Number of expected hires: 4

Location: Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) Manhattan, 525 East Houston Street, New York, NY

Start Date: July 5, 2023

Duration: Through program end (July 28, 2023)

CompensationThe compensation for teaching one class is $5,200.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree required
  • Teaching positions are open in the fields of Physics, Literature, Algebra, and/or Computer Science.
  • The ideal candidate will be a skilled educator with a demonstrated interest in engaging and challenging younger students with diverse racial backgrounds, economic backgrounds, and a variety of approaches to learning and/or needs for learning support
  • The ideal candidate will have an interest in working with high school age students who are completing a college-level course of study
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate a continued interest in the ongoing work in their field
  • The ideal candidate will understand cultural difference and purposefully help to uplift ideas from underrepresented groups to improve the equity balance in education
