Full-Time Assistant Division Construction Engineering Manager – New Higher Salary!
Job Description
- Provide support to our Division Construction Engineer in the administration of construction contracts for roadways and bridge.
- Coordinate with our planning and design units during preconstruction phases on tri-managed projects.
- Perform project final inspections and warranty reviews.
- Respond to project inquiries from the public, local governments, and news media.
- Assist with administration of Locally Administered Projects Program (LAPP) projects, including coordinating with local governments and Federal Highway.
- Assist with the management of our Division-wide construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services.
- Be the lead administrator on our NC Turnpike projects.
- Experience administering Highway Construction Contracts including use of the Highway Construction and Materials Systems (HiCams).
- Experience in Supplemental Agreement development and reviews.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of engineering concepts, practices, and theories used in the project development and construction engineering of bridges and roadways.
- Experience interpreting details of plans, project documents, policies, and procedures to convey information to consultants, staff, and others.
- Experience making recommendations and decisions for simple or complex project development based on reviewing plans for completeness, compliance with engineering principles, standards, and design needs.
- Experience supervising 3+ permanent employees, contractors, or consultants in an engineering capacity.
- Thorough knowledge of surveying and materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
- Considerable knowledge of math functions, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Skilled in the use of survey equipment, computers, and office equipment.
- Ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
- Ability to take notes and prepare/review reports.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to supervise activities of junior staff and instruct them in proper methods.
- Bachelors degree in engineering, and
- 6+ years progressive engineering experience, and
- 4+ years of supervisory experience; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
- With a Driver’s License.
- Registered in NC as professional engineers.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
