Part-Time Performing Arts Instructor
Job Description
The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Performing Arts Instructor to join our team.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Performing Arts Instructor performs direct leadership, instruction and motivation for program participants in performing arts classes. You will ensure high quality member-focused performing arts programs by providing leadership, instruction and motivation for program participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow/Implement our Association Quality Standards and 9 Dimensions of Well Being into Youth Programming and Staff Development.
- Create class lesson plans with a natural progression that relate to the abilities and ages of the classes being taught as well as reflect YMCA core values.
- Effectively lead virtual arts classes, to include but not limited to Facebook Live, Zoom webinars, Arts Camps and additional social media formats.
- Ensure that all program materials and content are developmentally appropriate and reflect the YMCA mission, values, and service to the community.
- Provide lesson plans, supply list, and budget to Arts Director as requested.
- Participate in performances, Y Arts Week events and other YMCA events as assigned.
- Effectively communicate program information and student progress as needed.
Are you a good fit?
- You have a commitment to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- You have 5 years of formal training in performing arts or comparable experience.
- You have 1-2 years of experience as a teacher and/or teaching assistant.
- You are able to instruct beginning and intermediate level classes.
- You are excited to teach classes for ages preschool through adult.
- You have a positive attitude and previous experience with varying ages and diverse populations.
- You firmly believe that the arts should be open to everyone regardless of artistic ability, experience, or financial circumstance.
- Able to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other online or in-person training as required.
Wage: $15.74 – $17.74 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: Part Time – up to 25 hours per week
