Full-Time Assistant Transportation Project Manager Engineer II
Job Description
- Provide engineering support to manage the delivery of Bridge Replacement Projects and roadway improvements.
- Support and assist our Bridge Program Manager, Division Project Managers, and other Advanced Engineers to ensure timely project delivery.
- Review preliminary project scopes, planning documents, preliminary Right of Way and construction plans and estimates.
- Coordinate reviews with other units and reviewers.
- Track project milestones and budgets.
- Update our SAP online database.
- Monitor and update project websites.
- Provide SharePoint and ATLAS support.
- Assist with coordination of utility relocations and Right of Way issues.
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings.
- Review Pay Items & Quantities (PIQ) Tool quantities.
- Review final plan checklists and contract proposals.
- Compile information to transmit to our Contract Office.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with public officials, consultants, and NCDOT staff as well as the public.
- Review and approve invoices.
- Prepare Professional Engineering Firm (PEF) evaluations and other project documents.
- Assist the Disadvantaged Business Program Manager with programming of bridge funds.
- Coordinate with technical experts to resolve project issues.
- Coordinate agreements with municipalities.
- Coordinate with firms to complete value assessments, express designs, and funding estimates.
- Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
- Customer service experience related to solving problems involving explaining engineering concepts to stakeholders.
- Experience making recommendations and decisions based on engineering practices and principles for simple or complex projects.
- Experience leading multiple projects and directing the work of multiple project teams.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles of civil engineering relating to the design, construction, and maintenance of highway systems.
- Candidates who are registered professional engineers.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, and
- 3+ year’s engineering experience; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
