Full-Time Engineer II – Deputy Project Management Executive
Job Description
- Manage the day-to-day activities and tasks of a multi-disciplinary team solutions from preconstruction to construction, including the tasks of project development, environmental analysis, planning, and design.
- Assist in leading multi-disciplinary teams developing, implementing, and delivering alternative contracts such as Express Design-Build Bridges, Sponsorship, CM/GC projects and Public Private Partnerships during the pre-construction phase to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within scope, and according to budget.
- Provide guidance and decisions on project-related issues during project development, environmental studies and environmental documentation stages, planning stages, design stages, and procurement stages and assist construction staff with procurement questions.
- Track and report on assigned tasks to Project Executives and Project Engineers.
- Assist our Project Executive to ensure products meet quality expectations.
- Maintain project milestones, track changes and decisions, document environmental decisions, identify risks and mitigation strategies, and ensure deliverables produced follow all federal and state laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Analyze environmental data and design information, request technical deviations and exceptions, and provide comments to the Project Engineer on centrally-developed environmental studies and documents.
- Assist Project Managers providing oversight to private engineering firms (PEF), administering PEF contracts, reviewing and processing invoices, making recommendations to the Senior Project Manager, and providing feedback on consultant performance.
- Experience managing project teams delivering transportation projects and tracking/maintaining project schedules.
- Knowledge of professional engineering principles and practices of civil engineering related to Highway Design with an emphasis on project planning, environmental studies and analysis, project design, and construction and maintenance methods related to the Project Delivery Process.
- Experience working with private engineering firms for review of submittals, studies, and designs.
- Demonstrated ability setting priorities, developing work schedules, monitoring goal progress, and tracking details/data/information/activities.
- Demonstrated ability expressing moderately-complex environmental and engineering concepts and related facts in a clear and organized manner to internal and external stakeholders.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
- Bachelors Degree in engineering, and
- 3+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
