Job Description
We seek an energetic, versatile, and tech savvy Interactive Designer to work with our Creative Services team to create compelling exhibits, help with Ideum marketing, and participate in business development. Ideum (www.ideum.com) is a creative company which designs and builds substantive experiences and products that use emerging technology. Our approach is to make exhibits that evoke wonder, awe and surprise, but that also tell important stories that have lasting impact.
Ideum’s multidisciplinary team includes industry professionals from a diverse set of backgrounds within the world of interactive exhibit development. We believe that interactive exhibits provide unique opportunities for storytelling and visitor interaction around meaningful topics and content.
Our company is diverse; we work with respected and influential museums, well-known brands, and technology companies. We create custom exhibits which utilize emerging technology including video walls, projection mapping, tangible interfaces, motion recognition, RFID, sensors, and other advances in computer technology. As a critical member of our team providing special attention to detail and a real passion for delivery, you will develop and deliver solutions for a variety of client projects ranging from immersive spaces, multitouch development, media production and much more.
Job Description
Interactive Designers at Ideum work on a wide range of projects that involve UI/UX design and exhibit design. They work directly with producers, software developers, media systems technicians, hardware technicians, and fabricators to make thoughtful, compelling, and effective exhibits for museums, libraries, cultural centers, zoos and aquariums, fortune 500 companies, and more. Successful designers are also willing to jump in to new kinds of projects and marketing as needed and generally help improve Ideum. The best designers keep a team-oriented attitude, consistently achieve compelling aesthetic solutions, and enthusiasm for upholding Ideum’s standards of design through quality assurance of all creative deliverables as well as developing new capabilities. They generally have 2-3 years previous experience and work with project teams to assist in conception, design and presentation of digital experiences that connect with audiences.
General Qualifications
We are looking for a self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can work with our diverse staff of content specialists, designers, programmers, and engineers. Hands-on, self-motivated individuals thrive at Ideum. In particular, we are looking for a designer that is well versed in UI/UX design and has the desire to work on projects that are diverse in scope. The ideal candidate will understand how to approach different design tasks for a diverse set of mediums including projection, large screens, web, and mobile applications. We use Adobe suite at Ideum and prefer a candidate well versed in at least photoshop and illustrator. Interactive designers are expected to be technically savvy with an understanding of file types and preparation, file management, and optimization. The best applicant will be a good listener and sensitive to the needs of their client and their team, with the ability to match their designs to different aesthetics and styles.
Requirements:
Demonstrated UI/UX design experience and ability (portfolio)
Fluency with interactive design principles and processes (interactive examples a plus)
Some project management and/or client interaction experience
Photoshop and Illustrator skills
Desire to help the company with proposals and marketing
Some experience with user testing
Experience with Web, mobile, and kiosk design
Creates and ideates materials for proposals and new business responses.
Can quickly design and execute creative deliverables.
Presents creative concepts to internal teams and clients.
Upholds Ideum’s standards of design through quality assurance of all creative
Can manage multiple project deliverables under tight deadlines.
Demonstrated organizational skills.
Dependability and commitment to results.
Extra Credit:

Our campus is located in Corrales, New Mexico (near Albuquerque, an hour from Santa Fe).
