Full-Time Deputy Division Traffic Engineer – NEW HIGHER SALARY!
Job Description
- Coordinate the Division’s Traffic Engineering Signals Group operations.
- Lead employees applying Traffic Engineering Principles in the operation and maintenance of Traffic Signals.
- Perform Traffic Engineering investigations, evaluate coordinated signal timing, and recommend adjustments as needed.
- Make recommendations and seek funds for safety and operational improvements.
- Assist in development of Traffic Signal Contracts and post-let technical support.
- Serve as the Project Manager for signal-related construction projects.
- Conduct other traffic investigations.
- Experience performing engineering safety/capacity analysis and decision making based on results of those analyses.
- Knowledge and understanding of engineering concepts, practices, and theories used in traffic engineering.
- Experience in traffic signals operation and timing, including signal timing software.
- Experience collaborating with others in finding solutions to controversial/sensitive matters that establish precedents.
- Experience reviewing engineered plans and details to determine compliance/compatibility with traffic and engineering principles.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures and uneven terrain conditions for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in emergency situations and inclement weather.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Windows, email, internet, and Microsoft Office.
- Communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, staff, and the public.
- Safety toe footwear is required.
- You may be required to register as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
- Candidates with a valid Driver’s License.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and
- 3+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
