Would you like to share your passion for aquatics and coach beginning to advanced swimmers? As a Head Swim Coach, you will instruct in beginning to advanced swimming and safety skills according to age group and class swim level, according to YMCA Competitive Swimming guidelines.

If hired for this position you will coach swimming in basic and advanced skills according to the swim team participant level assigned. You will attend Puget Sound Swimming Association or United States Swimming meets and abide by league regulations. You will coordinate recreational meets with local teams and YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties community centers. You will assist in the supervision and direction of assistant coaches and ensure the safety of swim team students at all times.

Are you a good fit?

  • You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • You have one to two years related experience (preferred).
  • You have an active recreational coaching style.
  • You have a positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populations.
  • You are able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards. Experience and knowledge coaching youth swim team preferred.
  • You have a YMCA Lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding certification (and obtain YMCA Lifeguarding certification within 60 days of hire) with prerequisite CPRO/AED, Oxygen Administration and First aid certifications.
  • You have a YMCA Lifeguard and Principles of Competitive Swimming and Diving certification.
  • Able to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other online or in-person training as required.

Starting Wage: $14.67+ per hour, depending on qualifications

Hours: Part Time – Up to 25 hours per week
