NEW HIGHER SALARY:  $64,270 – $112,472
The Challenge
We are looking for an Airport project manager to join our Aviation Development Team.
 
In this role you will:
    • Administer and supervise our State and Federal airports funding sources.
    • Work with NC public airports and provide support with airport planning, design, construction, and maintenance of asphalt pavement, lighting systems, and facilities.
    • Conduct periodic statewide reviews to determine the status of regional improvements and evaluate the need for additional projects/program modifications.
    • Review and comment on project plan sets, specifications, and scope of professional services.
    • Manage up to 2 engineers and work directly with internal/external stakeholders on airport expansions.
Management prefers
    • Candidates with a:
      • Strong background in pavement design, project management, contracts, bid process, and professional service procurement.
      • Strong background in construction management.
      • Background in aviation, such as pilot’s certificate.
    • Candidates trained by FAA/education institutions on airport planning, design and administration.
 
What You Bring
    • Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
    • Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
    • Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
    • Customer service skills solving problems involving complicated engineering concepts to various customer groups.
    • Computer skills in Microsoft Office, SAP, CADD, MS Project/Scheduling, and GIS.
    • A broad working knowledge of planning and engineering principles used in engineering and the ability to use it in practice.
    • Interest in areas that include earthmoving, drainage, paving, electrical systems, environmental, facilities, and record keeping for projects.
    • Considerable knowledge in planning, design, and administration of engineering projects.
    • Ability to provide engineering and technical assistance to local government units.
    • Solid communications skills that include public speaking, technical writing, and conflict resolution.
 
Note
    • We may require you to be registered as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
 
Education & Experience
    • Bachelors degree in engineering, and
    • 4+ years of relevant experience; or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
