Full-Time Auto Mechanic/Equipment Repair Technician
Job Description
- Perform repair work using computer diagnostic software.
- Service, repair, rebuild, and diagnosis mechanical systems of gas/diesel-powered automotive and heavy equipment.
- Perform mechanic work repairing equipment.
- Complete fuel and lube inventory.
- Assist Journey-level mechanics in troubleshooting and completing more complex repairs.
- Maintain fuel site records and inspections per NCDOT and DENR regulations.
- Perform skilled mechanic work on systems including preventive maintenance; brakes; steering; tires and tubes; wheels, rims and hubs; auto transmissions; charging systems; cranking systems; ignition systems; lighting systems; cooling systems; exhaust systems; fuel systems; power units, hydraulics; air conditioning; instruments; gauges; and air intake systems.
- Diagnose problems using diagnostic equipment.
- Prepare paperwork related to employment and equipment repair.
- Move parts and materials used to repair and maintain equipment.
- Operate a motor vehicle.
- Skills at multi-tasking while maintaining focus.
- Experience repairing and maintaining automotive and heavy equipment.
- Ability to understand, follow, and retain written and verbal instruction.
- Able to read schematics, diagrams, sketches, and maps.
- Ability to identify components (engine, air compressor, differential, etc.).
- Strength to move relatively heavy objects.
- Can safely operate equipment for testing purposes.
- A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement. (If you don’t have this, you must get through on-the-job training within 360 days of hire.)
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, or heavy equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting complex electrical/electronic systems.
- Experience in basic electrical systems diagnostics and proper wiring repair.
- Inventory management experience including parts, fuel, and lube commodities.
- Hydraulic system diagnostics, repairs, and rebuild experience on a variety of equipment.
- Experience performing electrical/electronic diagnostics and repair of complex wiring on two of the following; light, medium, heavy duty trucks, and heavy equipment.
- You will be working in indoor and outdoor environments.
- You must bring a complete set of mechanic tools.
- A pre-employment drug test is required.
- We will conduct a background check with your employers over the past 2 years for drug and alcohol use.
- Safety toe footwear is required.
- We may require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III, or Universal Technician.
- High School/GED diploma, and
- 3+ years of relevant experience, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
