Would you like to make a difference in your community? Would you like to use your knowledge and skills to deliver successful Evidence Based Health Initiatives (EBHI)? As the Chronic Disease Program Lifestyle Educator, provide program coordination, instruction and motivation for participants in YMCA chronic disease behavior change programs, such as the YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program and LIVESTRONG at the Y program.
If hired for this position you will conduct engaging, safe, and educational classes to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals. You will deliver curriculum to program participants in effective, meaningful, and compelling ways. You will perform aerobic/fitness moves that demonstrate different intensity levels to meet the various fitness levels of participants.
As the Chronic Disease Program Lifestyle Educator, you understand and actively practice our commitment to the Health Seeker by serving, building relationships and connecting with members who struggle to maintain a healthy lifestyle. You will be able to create a safe, judgement-free, and encouraging environment that is friendly and non-competitive for participants.

- You have or commit to obtaining certifications in Basic First Aid, CPR, YMCA Healthy Lifestyles, and national group exercise certification, LIVESTRONG at the Y instructor training, YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program Lifestyle Coach Certification and Listen First training.
- Spanish speaking preferred.
- You commit to attend a minimum of 2 CEC courses (6 hours or more) a year.
- You are able to demonstrate skills in accordance with YMCA standards and effectively lead a safe aerobic/group exercise class.
- You have at least one year of experience teaching lifestyle behavior change classes preferred.
- You have knowledge of the fitness components of a group or aerobic exercise class.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- You are able to demonstrate a friendly, courteous and professional manner while working with members and staff and the ability to understand, articulate, and enforce YMCA policies and procedures in a positive way.
Starting Wage: $14.67+ per hour, depending on qualifications
Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week
