Are you a fitness professional who is passionate about building relationships and connecting people to a healthy lifestyle? Would you like to coach health seekers to achieve their fitness goals?
As a Health and Well-being Coach, you understand and actively practice our commitment to the Health Seeker by serving, building relationships, and connecting with members who struggle to maintain a healthy lifestyle. You will guide and direct all fitness enthusiasts, regardless of fitness level, through YMCA programs. You treat every participant fairly and equally regardless of circumstances and abilities, making each feel good about themselves while creating an encouraging and fun environment.
In this position, you will deliver equipment orientations and assist members with personalized workout routines, utilizing already developed systems. You will teach and demonstrate proper form and technique using current safety guidelines. You will also accentuate positive attributes nurturing the whole; physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of each member.
Are you a good fit?
- You have a Bachelor’s degree or two years of related knowledge and experience (preferred).
- You have knowledge of basic health and fitness principles and components, exercise prescription, and strength training machines.
- You are able to set an excellent example in health, fitness, and member service.
- You have experience coaching and/or teaching group exercise classes (preferred).
- You have YMCA Foundations of Strength and Conditioning and/or Foundations of Group Exercise certification or equivalent, such as ACE, ACSM, or AFAA certifications.
- You have a positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populations.
- You have current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen certifications.
Starting Wage: $14.49+ per hour, depending on qualifications
Hours: Part-time, up to 25 hours per week
