Job Description

Title: Development Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Advancement until a permanent Director of Development is hired
Base salary: $66K based on location and our current salary structure
Benefits: 6 weeks annually of paid vacation, two weeks accrued sick time, 99% employer-paid health-care premiums including acupuncture, 100% paid vision and dental premiums, and paid family and medical leave.
Location: Remote, but an option for office if local to the SF Bay area
Organization Description
Trans Lifeline connects trans people to the community, resources, and support they need to survive and thrive—building a resilient trans community through trans-led direct services. Trans Lifeline’s Hotline provides peer support and crisis support. Our Microgrants program provides low-barrier grants to trans people in need of legal name changes and updated government IDs, HRT, as well as funds for trans people who are incarcerated. By providing care and financial redistribution, Trans Lifeline identifies the trans community’s most pressing needs and brings that expertise to broader gender and racial justice movements.

The Development Coordinator helps to manage Trans Lifeline’s fundraising systems. This position will focus on maintaining the integrity of our Salesforce data and the tracking systems of TL’s development department, as well as managing TL’s individual donor communications. This position helps to ensure that our development practices uphold Trans Lifeline’s organizational culture and values, grounded in impact, sustainability, and equity. Core responsibilities of the Development Coordinator include:

      • Collaboration with the Interim Director of Development and Director of Advancement to update and monitor the annual development calendar to ensure year-round engagement and stewardship of individual donors
      • Regularly import donations and update donor records in Salesforce to ensure accuracy
      • Field individual donor communications/requests, and ensure the appropriate follow up occurs
      • Process donations, generate and track tax receipts and acknowledgment letters
      • Contribute to TL’s e-news communications, drafting content for supporters and donors
      • Project manage fundraising campaigns
      • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Advancement or Interim Director of Development
Responsibilities for this position are broken down into the following four categories:
      • Systems Management (50%)
      • Import all opportunities into Salesforce from our various giving platforms weekly and monthly
      • Manage all donor records in Salesforce
      • Manage development calendar and projects
      • Send acknowledgments and tax information to all individual donors
      • Donor Communications (35%)
      • Plan yearly stewardship process for individual donors
      • Draft stewardship outreach including e-news, invitations, solicitations, and all other forms of individual donor communications
      • Manage day to day communications with individual donors
      • Cross-Program Coordination and Equity Work (10%)
      • Create regular check-ins and workflows for programmatic input in development communications alongside the Director of Advancement and Interim Director of Development
      • Actively participate in organizational equity work
      • Professional Development (5%)
      • Actively seek and participate in 1:1 coaching and/or regular coursework to continue developing donor communication and/or management skills

Required Qualifications

    • 1+ year CRM experience
    • 2+ years experience with Excel
    • Excellent written skills, with an eye for grammar and a visionary voice
    • Proficient in project management
    • Strong relational and interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to prioritize and manage competing needs and resolve complex issues
    • A collaborative approach and a desire to be a team player
    • Deep commitment to TL’s values including, but not limited to, justice, equity, and anti-oppression

Preferred Qualifications

      • Basic knowledge of non-profit development workflows and donor relations best practices
      • 1+ year experience importing and updating data in Salesforce
      • Experience using Apsona to import data
      • Experience with fundraising giving platforms
This full-time position will work remotely, with the option for an office if local to the SF Bay area. Compensation for this position is dependent on Trans Lifeline’s salary structure. We estimate that a qualified candidate will earn $66,000. Our offers are not negotiable as part of our efforts to maintain a transparent salary structure and ensure just and equitable compensation across the organization.
