Full-Time Assistant Professor
Job Description
The Department of Health Systems and Population Health, in the School of Public Health at the University of Washington (UW) invites applications for one faculty position with a focus on health services research and education at the rank of Assistant Professor (without tenure by reason of funding). This is a full-time (100% FTE), 12-month service period position, with an anticipated start date of fall 2022.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
(a) Develop and conduct an independent externally-funded research program, including preparing and submitting grants to federal and/or non-federal funding agencies (e.g., K-level Career Development Award, R-level grant), that complements Department, School, and University research initiatives and programs,
(b) Participate in collaborative, interdisciplinary research programs, as appropriate to their interests and experience,
(c) Manage and analyze large complex datasets using advanced statistical methods (e.g., regression, multi-level modeling, machine learning),
(d) Complete manuscript preparation, submission, and publication in reputable journals in health services or related fields,
(e) Engage with community organizations and agencies for scientific activities, communicate science to non-academic communities outside of scientific conferences and journals, and articulate how lived experiences influence scientific, teaching, and/or mentoring activities, and
(f) Teach in the Department’s educational programs and mentor undergraduate, Master, and doctoral students.
In addition, the successful candidate would be expected to participate in activities that support and advance the department’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as regularly participate in Program and Departmental activities such as mentoring and providing career development for diverse professionals and students, leading seminars, guest speaking, orientation(s), program and department faculty meetings, graduation ceremonies, search committees, and relevant academic activities in the Department.
A doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in public health or another relevant field, with a focus on health systems, health services research, and/or population health.
