Full-Time Product Engineer Technical Advisor
Job Description
We are looking for a talented Product Engineer Technical Advisor to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Engine Business in Columbus, IN.
There are two new clean sheet engine development programs underway that must ultimately be integrated into new and existing OEM partner applications and territories. The Product Engineer Technical Advisor will specifically be assigned to resolve platform level conflicts legislative, customer or program requirements. This role is critical given the complexity of the platform level development across Europe, US, India and South America.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
* This dual product/life-cycle focused leadership position provides product leadership over one or more global product platforms that the Engine Business offers for customer product selection.
* The product line architect is most often a product domain specialist with significant experience both in product engineering and customer engineering based positions; having a solid understanding both for how customer needs translate into technical product solutions and making decisions as the platform product expert.
* Work across functions partnering closely with product planning and management to align new and refreshed platform plans with market level plans as well as supporting customer teams in helping with product selection and issue management for all platform needs.
* Obtain input from stakeholders such as customer engineering, marketing product planning and management, program management, product and manufacturing engineering to deliver and maintain a capable platform plan that global customer teams select and configure in their Value Package Introduction/Value Package Change (VPI/VPC) business processes.
* Uses systems knowledge and product expertise to make decisions in the areas of platform architecture, risk trade-offs, platform market range capability engineering, technology integration, sub-system and component part standardization vs. proliferation, modularization, product line competitiveness for one or more product line(s) throughout the life cycle of the product platform.
* Applies, improves and partners both within and outside of the technical function in processes such as Synchronized Business Planning (SBP), Product Preceding Technology (PPT), Product Planning and Management, product architecting, competitive benchmarking and Value Package Introduction (VPI).
* Provides technical leadership for the business’s most complex global technical challenges.
* Coordinates and directs the work of cross functional global project teams.
* Coaches and mentors the future technical leaders across a global business unit or corporate area
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
* Demonstrated leadership ability in a relevant Technical Advisor role through a range of varying business scenarios and/or life cycles including successful product platform planning management activities.
* Advanced level proficiency in many of the enterprise and functional competency areas with the ideal candidate having experience in both product and customer facing roles with a proven track record of success.
* Individual will own key engine and vehicle subsystem technical issues as related to next generation product development for the global B and L series engines.
Education/Experience
* College, university, or equivalent bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical discipline is required.
* The requirement for a common system design and specific market and customer tailoring are in conflict and an experienced technical engineer capable of navigating multiple regions, customer and market requirements to define technical solutions is needed to resolve issues and conflicts, maintain scale and deliver product that meets technical profile.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
