JOB/POSITION SUMMARY:

The Wish Family & Volunteer Engagement Coordinator will strengthen the mission of Make-A-Wish Oklahoma through engaging current wish families and alumni. Coordinator will activate community supporters and volunteers to improve overall quality of wish experience for all families and maintain strong relationships with wish families after their wish experience, building a robust alumni network.

 

JOB/POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Pipeline Engagement

  • Develop a strategy to keep wish children engaged through entire Wish Journey – from referral to granting
    • Create plan and adhere to budget for a welcome gift to each new wish child
    • Maintain excitement during the wish journey with regular touchpoints, including but not limited to handwritten letters, gatherings and themed box mailings
    • Identify and secure supporters to sponsor touchpoint gifts and gathering venues
    • Recruit, train and schedule volunteers to help execute the engagement plan

 

Wish Alumni Program

  • Incorporate Wish It Forward into development of alumni program to engage wish families beyond the wish granting experience
    • Maintain contact with wish families after wish has been granted
    • Create myriad of opportunities for families to stay involved with the mission of Make-A-Wish beyond the Wish Journey
    • Recruit and train alumni mentors to welcome newly referred wish kids
    • Recruit and train alumni ambassadors
    • Connect wish alumni ambassadors with development staff for school or corporate invitations to share wish story
    • Plan and organize alumni engagement events, including Wish World Reunion for both wish families and volunteers
    • Invite alumni to fundraising events
    • Connect wish alumni who want to fundraise for Make-A-Wish with development team

 

Volunteer Management

  • Screen and place new volunteers with appropriate roles
    • Interview potential volunteers
    • Initiate background checks
  • Aid in identifying and developing new volunteer roles as needed

 

SKILLS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Exceptional interpersonal communications skills – phone, email and in person, and public speaking skills.
  • Must be a creative thinker and self-starter.
  • Comfortable making in-kind donation requests.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive.
  • Ability to work in the following manner; with minimal supervision, independently, and take initiative.
  • Excellent computer and computer software skills with specific emphasis on Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and internet search programs and email communications.  Raiser’s Edge experience a plus.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to details and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to calmly handle pressure situations.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed, including evenings and weekends.
  • Statewide travel is required, as is a valid driver’s license.

 

JOB/POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 1 year professional experience, nonprofit experience a plus.
  • Prior knowledge and experience in effective database management preferred.
  • Integrity, maturity and ethical awareness.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
