Wiper and True

We are one of the South West’s finest breweries, based in St Werburghs, Bristol, producing a wide range of exceptional, exciting craft beers. Our taproom and kiosk are part of this brewery and a great place in the community to enjoy our beers. 

We have outgrown our current site and so will be opening a second new site in 2022, which means this is a very exciting time to join and be part of a successful growing business and the opportunities that come with this. 

Overview

Wiper and True is looking for a knowledgeable and experienced person to manage its existing brewery based Taproom and Can Kiosk. The successful candidate will be passionate about serving a variety of the brewery’s freshest and most varied beers. Bottles, cases and merchandise are also sold from the venue via its kiosk too. 

In light of Covid-restrictions lifting we will also be looking to re-introduce all our events, which this role will manage, including but not limited to weekly brewery tours, monthly Sunday local creative markets and live music and events with other partnerships.

With our new site opening next summer, there is a development opportunity for the right person if they want, to take on additional responsibilities in our new taproom site too. 

The Role 

You and your team will deliver extraordinary customer service and an informative and engaging experience for customers at both the taproom and Kiosk. You will strive to hit the weekly sales targets and adapt and innovate to ensure growth is sustained. You will be responsible for the resourcing and training of the taproom team and will manage up to five Front of House staff at one time. You will also work closely with the Marketing team to propose and execute original ideas for promotion and events at the taproom.

You will be required to rota yourself throughout the weekend taproom shifts and then your remaining hours are for administrative, management duties, meetings, reporting and cleaning etc, which can be flexibly agreed to suit. Full job description is available on request.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

You ideally should have

  • Previous supervisory/management position in a pub, bar or restaurant 
  • Knowledge of cellar dispense and line cleaning 
  • Proficiency in Excel/Numbers, Word/Pages and other computer packages
  • A comfortable and confident manner with customers face to face
  • A passion and understanding of beer

It would be good if you had

  • Cellar, dispense and tasting qualifications e.g. Cicerone
  • First aider qualification

The role would suit a sociable person who likes the fact that tasting and talking about beer is ‘work’ and would like to join a small close-knit team.

Location: St Werburghs, Bristol

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week which will include weekend work.  

Salary:  £23,000-25,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.
