Full-Time Senior Manager User Design
Job Description
Who we are…
Pearl Health is restoring the independence and joy of practicing medicine for doctors in America. Our healthcare system has burdened our doctors with too much process, while removing them from what they do best: caring for those we love most. We are a team of physicians (Groups), technologists (Athena, Oscar, Hudson River Trading) and health plan leaders (Oscar, Clover, Centivo) who believe that primary care providers (PCPs) are the key to America’s future health. Our investors include AlleyCorp, which founded companies like MongoDB (NASDAQ: MDB), Business Insider, Gilt Groupe, Zola, Nomad Health, and more.
We are launching Pearl Health to help PCPs who are overwhelmed by the demands of an aging population and the unpredictable business model inherent to Traditional Medicare. Over time, this solution will empower PCPs to provide better care to their entire patient population. We believe there is a need to bring humanism back to healthcare by giving physicians the ability to better allocate their time with patients, increasing their autonomy, and creating incentives that are aligned with achieving better outcomes through clinical decision-making powered by actionable intelligence. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) is launching a new value-based care program to disrupt Traditional Medicare, and we believe that this represents an opportunity to achieve the meaningful change we envision.
What we hope you can do…
We are seeking a talented Senior Manager User Experience, with a track record of helping start-ups discover their users’ needs and designing innovative product solutions that address those needs. You will contribute to our future product vision as we take on the bold mission of enabling primary care physicians to succeed in taking on risk in the value-based world, and your work will be a core strategic asset of our company as we create our foundational product experiences. Our user experience bar is high – we know that we need to earn the engagement of our clinical and administrative physician practice partners.
You are a strategic and analytical thinker who has mastered the ability to create engaging, effective, and delightful product experiences. You are equally adept working on high-level strategic projects and obsessing over every detail of a new design. You are willing to roll up your sleeves and work alongside Product Management and Engineering in product execution, as well as build out and manage your own team as Pearl’s footprint goes. You are comfortable serving as a UX generalist until we build out specialization in our team, responsible for both research and design. Most importantly, you are passionate about improving the lives of primary care physicians and their patients as the US continues moving towards value-based care.
What a Senior Manager User Experience means to us…
- Work across all stages of the user experience process (problem validation, user research, ideation, concept development, solution validation, wireframing, prototyping, final visual design) as we stand up our first product experiences
- Develop a deep understanding of our users through both qualitative and quantitative approaches
- Infuse our product experience with best-in-class usability and design, ensuring we define and maintain a high bar for our user’s experience
- Advocate for product design and the comprehensive user experience, knowing when and how to make trade-off decisions about project scope against business goals as we launch our initial product
- Advance the discipline of product design within the organization and with partners and clients
- Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering in the prioritization, preparation, and execution of comprehensive product modules and features
- Work effectively with internal stakeholders, supporting other functions in the communication of our existing and future product capabilities as needed
Who you are…
- 8+ years of product UX/UI experience, with a strong portfolio of previous work product
- End-to-end experience in the product lifecycle, from problem definition through to general release and scalability
- Experience working in an early stage startup, with the willingness and ability to work on a project from the earliest stages (research, discovery, and validation) through to buildable design
- Expert in user research and design best practices, including how to optimize and grow a UX function
- Expert-level experience with design and prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch, Invision, etc.)
- Comfortable presenting and articulating ideas to the team and stakeholders
- Behavioral design experience a plus
- Healthcare experience preferred, and a passion for improving the lives of primary care physicians required
- Willingness to travel for internal company meetings and customer site visits as needed
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
