The Department of English at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, anticipates a limited number of full-time, non-tenure-track Lecturer positions to teach business and technical writing and first-year composition courses during the 2021-2022 academic year. These positions are one-year appointments and covered by a collective bargaining agreement; renewal of the position is possible and contingent on availability of funding, strong enrollments, and strong performance reviews.

All candidates are required to have a PhD degree in English (or other relevant field) or an MFA in Creative Writing, plus a minimum of two years’ teaching experience at the college level. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate excellence in teaching writing at the college level.
Start date is 8/16/21. Salary is highly competitive with similar positions at other institutions. Responsibilities include teaching three classes per semester.

Strong candidates will articulate teaching philosophies and practices grounded in currently accepted disciplinary best practices; provide detailed examples to demonstrate conscientious, student-centered teaching methods; and provide specific examples of how they emphasize equity, access and inclusion in their classrooms by supporting diverse student populations.
