£46,750 – £55,000

At Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) we’re excited to be expanding our Project Management Team in Yeovil.

In this dynamic and stimulating position, you will further develop your experience in project management and co-ordination, and enhance your commercial understanding, financial awareness, and risk management scheduling.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will join the Merlin Team, forming part of the Helicopters Operating Centre, based at the Leonardo Helicopter site in Yeovil. You will be involved with introducing new capability into the Royal Navy Fleet of Merlin Helicopters, as well as responding to customer change requests and initiating small equipment capability projects within the team.

You will be key in ensuring coherence and consistency to customer led changes with the Merlin Delivery Team. This position offers you the opportunity to liaise with customers and the wider delivery team, whilst working with Joint Helicopter Command and Navy Command capability managers to develop requirements and plan future change requests in accordance with the capability management plans.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop multidisciplinary teams, covering a range of subject areas across varying levels of project complexity
    • Be accountable for the delivery of project outputs, ensuring the most cost-effective and efficient means of delivery
    • Support an open, honest, no blame culture, actively highlighting failures and shortfalls and Learning from Experience
    • Engage with stakeholders to identify, assess and mitigate risks, to secure project delivery
    • Meet with customers to successfully manage the start of projects, leading the development of project business cases and delivery plans
    • Demonstrate a positive can-do attitude to all aspects of work, with the adaptability and versatility to act as a catalyst for change
    • Contribute to the wider professionalism through a commitment to self-learning and supporting your team’s learning and development

    What you will be assessed against

    To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

    • Experience of running and managing complex projects
    • Experience of commercial responsibility and managing budgets
    • Experience of managing people and leading a team

    It would benefit your application if you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

    • Experience of managing the transition to in-service projects
