About the role
We are looking for a Temporary Program Lead on our Business Development team for a 6-month contract. This position has the potential to transition to year-round with the success of the business and individual performannce. We are a small and growing team of friendly, hard-working big-thinkers with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. You are a well-organized, eloquent, quick learner with a can-do attitude. You take pride in bringing new insights to life and seeing them succeed. You are a forward-thinker and a planner while also being able to prioritize details of what’s happening a week from now, two days from now, and two hours from now.
About the team
The Uncommon Goods Business Development team evaluates, orchestrates, and brings new experiences and partnerships to life. We are a recently established group leading a new initiative that we believe has a lot of potential. This role will play a key role in helping to build and grow the Experiences business into a significant revenue stream for Uncommon Goods. We are a small but mighty team working cross-functionally with many areas of the company.
Essential Responsibilities
- Seeking new “Uncommon” class concepts, researching them, and communicating them to internal parties for feedback and approval.
- Collaborating with the Merchandising team at Uncommon Goods to coordinate new ideas that tie to our current Makers and products.
- Ensuring all new concepts fit within the business model and profit goals.
- Developing and leading the weekly class calendar looking 3-6 months out.
- Collaborating PD to develop new products tied to experiences.
- Interviewing and vetting instructors, drafting creative briefs, and ensuring the process from class exploration to class listing to class selling out to class execution and follow-up is executed flawlessly.
- Owning the development of a private and corporate events strategy and leading all aspects of implementation.
- Lead research and partner with the internal Product Management team to evaluate and consider new platforms on which to schedule, offer and execute virtual experiences.
The Temporary Experiences Program lead will report to the Head of Business Development.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordinating the strategic offerings, scheduling & execution of a series of ongoing virtual events.
- Partnering with internal team and supporting activities needed to ensure smooth operations of events offerings.
- Research, reporting, and analysis as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in marketing, event planning, communication, or a related field
- 5+ years of industry experiences
- Ability to lead own workload efficiently
- Self-starter with excellent communication and organization skills
- Ability to respond to business objectives and real-time takeaways
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Tech-savvy and willing to learn new systems and technology
Applicants must be open to working outside of traditional business hours (evenings and weekends) from time to time when needed to help support/facilitate classes. Applicants should be analytical, a problem solver, energetic, and self-propelled. Due to current Covid-19 safety and social distancing requirements, this position will be 100% remote until September 1st and then be based out of our Brooklyn, NY location. We are accepting applicants from the Tri-State area only. Applicants will need access to a computer system that can access a remote desktop. Applicants should have knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and a reliable home internet connection.
