SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in Washington State, that provides students with the latest cutting edge skills relevant to today’s workplace. LWTech offers ten applied bachelor’s degrees, more than 40 associate degrees and 93 professional certificates, in 43 areas of study, including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. LWTech serves the Eastside and is located within the city of Kirkland, which is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Washington. Summary of Responsibilities
The Wellness Coordinator serves the LWTech community by establishing a culture that promotes healthy lifestyles through environment and social supports. This position encourages students to strengthen their health and wellbeing through educational opportunities, wellness activities, physical fitness, and self-improvement by managing the college’s wellness center and related student activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Using safety protocols, manage the college’s wellness center including ensuring all exercise equipment functions within normal operation, exercise equipment is used appropriately by wellness center users, and facilities are kept clean and accessible for all users;
• Manage assessment of facility use including membership management of students and college employees, problem solve key-card access issues with campus public safety, and report misuse of key-card access as necessary;
• Coordinate essential functions of the college’s food pantry including managing internal and external donation contacts, rotate food stock, and advertise the program to the college community;
• Using online platforms or in-person events, develop and conduct wellness focused workshops, seminars, and training activities for the student body; including developing online and print materials for distribution;
• With supervisor direction and support, effectively supervise student employees assigned to the wellness center;
• Participate in shared governance at the college via committee work as assigned
• Manage wellness focused college webpages;
• Prepare reports and annual assessments as necessary;
• Manage resources including wellness center supplies, replacement of exercise equipment, and towel service;
• Ensure areas of responsibility operate within the policies and procedures of the college and applicable governing agencies; recommend policies and procedures related to the wellness center;
• Assist supervisor with department planning of goals and objectives;
• Use college assigned technology and equipment to manage wellness center operations and objectives included;
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Sufficient combination of education, work, and lived experience to demonstrate ability to meet the following expectations (generally, successful candidates have a bachelor’s degree in education, public health, behavioral health, fitness training, physical education, or related field and 1 or more years of related work experience):
• Engage existing and recruit new users for the wellness center
• Meet the needs of beginning and seasoned wellness center users
• Plan and implement wellness programming that meets the needs of a diverse student body
• Strong computer and technical knowledge in a variety of Microsoft systems;
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills;
• Strong attention to detail;
• Demonstrated ability to work independently a with a diverse population.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Compensation & Work Schedule Initial salary placement is $5,416 per month. This is a 40-hours per week, administrative position. This position is 100% on campus work, there is no remote work option available.
