Compensation:        US $100,000-115,000 depending on experience.

Job Summary

Tessitura Network is the leading provider of technology and services for over 700 of the world’s premiere arts and cultural organizations. Company efforts are guided by a team of globally located, highly qualified industry professionals.

The Tessitura Network Technical Solutions Team serves as a central hub for all business-critical Technical Consulting requests, ranging from quick troubleshooting questions to major organizational initiatives.  We are looking for a talented Manager of Web Development to contribute to our customization framework which includes a mix of web, mobile, and desktop applications driven by a robust API driven backend.

The Technical Solutions team utilizes test-driven development, pair programming, code reviews, and mature design patterns to build innovative custom solutions based on the specific needs of our members. Developers maintain a close relationship with other teams, departments, and the community through a variety of member-facing, strategic, and internal projects and initiatives.

Manager, Web Development Responsibilities

• Oversees a team of web developers in the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of the Tessitura Customization Service including web, mobile, desktop applications and hosted/cloud components
• Estimates the technical costs of projects for clients and project managers, confers with clients to identify requirements (e.g., data, information needs, processing, specific output, functional and development of test data), and determines their desired outcomes in order to formulate the design of the system and/or offer alternative solutions in a timely manner
• Provides project management regarding all technical aspects of implemented projects which includes: keeping in line with established budgets and timeframes, training end users on the operational procedures of the system, and providing technical guidance to less experienced staff during implementation. Analyzes, designs, and documents information to create the applicable statement of work and the associated deliverables. Assists in planning of resource/time allocations for current and projected development needs
• Proactively reviews emerging technologies, changes in the industry and the business functions of various clients, ensuring proposed solutions are aligned with the changing strategies, goals and objectives of our diverse community
• Develops and maintains technical knowledge through training, classes, and mentors new or junior staff members on business knowledge, complex technical issues, and coding best practices
• Some off-hours work will be required for code administration and international client support
• Travel three to four times per year for meetups and conferences as needed (note: all travel is currently suspended)

Required Skills and Experience:

• Proven aptitude in analyzing business needs to conceive, design, and develop innovative solutions
• Experience writing detailed and thorough technical requirements
• Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Prior involvement in a consulting environment
• 4+ years of full stack web application development
• Proficiency in modern REST API usage and development
• Knowledgeable in software development best practices and design patterns
• Self-motivated; ability to work efficiently from home in a virtual office environment
• Demonstrated strong initiative and willingness to assume additional responsibilities
• Ability to work closely with others in a very strong team-focused structure

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• 2+ years’ experience overseeing development teams
• 2+ years’ experience in analyzing business requirements, recommending technical solutions, and writing technical specifications and/or requirements
• Test driven development experience
• Knowledge of secure coding best practices (PCI and PII compliant data environment)
