Full-Time Volunteer Lawyers Program Project Manager

Job Description

The Volunteer Lawyers Program (VLP) Project Manager will have primary responsibility for certain initiatives involving the case management system (CMS), including but not limited to texting for case outcomes, automated client surveys and CMS generated documents. The VLP/Intake Project Manager coordinates and supports various VLP projects including Brief Advice Clinics, Virtual Advice Clinics, Pro Se Clinics and extended service case referrals. The Project Manager will work with the Managing Attorney of Intake/VLP and the CMS Committee (LegalServer Committee) and others to implement CMS-related projects for Legal Aid, including projects involving Intake/VLP, and will provide other support to the Intake/VLP team. Responsibilities will include:
  • Participate in the LegalServer Committee to identify, evaluate, and develop tools for use by Legal Aid.
  • Manage digital resources for volunteers, including uploading and maintaining documents, identifying and removing (or updating) out-of-date materials, and sharing resources with volunteers as appropriate.
  • Assist the Managing Attorney of Intake/VLP in planning yearly calendars for over 100 clinics, including coordination with clinic sites and recruitment of volunteers and Legal Aid staff support.
  • Oversee bi-annual update of volunteer hours and case status using various tools to identify recipients, coordinate messaging, and ensure data accuracy.
  • Support relationships with volunteers, including law firms, bar associations, retired attorneys, government agencies, corporate counsel groups, and law schools.
  • Attend in-person clinics, including on Saturdays and evenings, to engage with clients and provide support to volunteers and clients.

The Successful Candidate will:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, liberal arts, or commensurate experience required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in non-profit organizations, volunteer engagement, or similar
  • work.
  • Excellent research skills.
  • Proficient technology skills, including in MS Office, Windows and databases.
  • Proficiency with volunteer management software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including being attentive to cultural needs and differences.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Establish effective working relationships with a variety of individuals.
  • Strong organizational skills, including being able to prioritize work, plan and problem-solve, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Compensation & Benefits: The salary range for Project Manager is $66,000 to $99,000 DOE, with the top third of the pay range reserved for those with deep skill sets, long tenure, and consistent exceptional performance.  Legal Aid offers an exceptional benefits package including healthcare, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan with up to 13% employer contribution, and much more.
