Full-Time US Patient Advocacy Lead

o strengthen our Patient Value Operations Team, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of: US Advocacy Lead

 

As US Advocacy Lead, you will help to support and grow the company’s commitment to building strong relationships with patient and professional advocacy organizations in its targeted rare disease communities.  You will assist with the development of strategic alliances in the advocacy space with a focus on rare disease pipeline opportunities which UCB is exploring.  Also, you will support UCB’s commitment to collaborative, transparent relationships with professional and patient advocacy organizations.

  • Assist in defining strategic advocacy plans for the rare disease community, aligning objectives, and goals that develop mutually beneficial, trusting, and sustainable relationships with provider and patient organizations and other third-party organizations.
  • Assist in building and nurturing coalitions with organizations to support value-driven healthcare throughout the entire healthcare ecosystem.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to help build robust and proactive clinical trial recruitment efforts in harmony with advocacy organizations.
  • Identify opportunities with third parties to develop public affairs campaigns and identify partnerships that focus on patient and clinical trial access as well as national and state public policy that supports these objectives.
  • Identify areas of opportunity and collaboration across functional areas within the organization (patient value units, corporate affairs, medical, clinical development, compliance / legal in order to ensure successful implementation and management of external partnerships; seek to refine internal processes to enhance advocacy program.

 

You will contribute by: 

  • Building UCB’s name and reputation in the rare disease community and consistently communicate internally to ensure there is growing support for advocacy for the company’s robust rare disease pipeline.
  • Assisting with compliance and contracting to assure that funding and programs with advocacy groups meet pre-established legal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maximizing value of external partners (i.e. vendors/agencies) in a cost-effective manner.
  • Assisting with sponsorships budget and ensure alignment to output metrics to ensure a high level of deliverable patient impact.
  • Driving ongoing internal communication about the advocacy strategy within UCB in partnership with public affairs

 

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in advocacy, communications, government relations, and/or consumer marketing, non-profit leadership

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical or medical fields
  • Knowledge and / or experience in rare disease community is preferable
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multiple functions to deliver results with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage day-to-day projects related to the advocacy strategy and to work independently.
  • Strong analytical skills, able to clearly interpret and distill scientific, clinical and commercial information
  • Ability to influence and gain prompt consensus from internal and external partners
  • Excellent project management and communication skills, including strong writing and public speaking skills
