Would you like to share your passion for aquatics with others? Would you like to teach others how to swim? As a Swim Instructor, you will provide direct leadership, prepared instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes. You will instruct beginning to advanced swim and safety skills depending on your abilities, according to age group and class swim levels, following YMCA curriculum.

If hired for this position you will prepare class lesson plans with a natural progression of appropriate skills for the abilities and ages of the classes, member usage charts, and safety inspections. You will also communicate with parents and keep accurate records of lesson attendance.

  • I am able to demonstrate basic swimming skills.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to sit for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift or move a higher amount.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly in the water.
  • Able to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other online or in-person training as required.

Starting Wage: $14.49+ per hour, depending on qualifications

Hours: Part Time – Up to 25 hours per week
